A few months ago, Kim Kardashian tried to Break The Internet with a completely nude cover for Paper Magazine (No, we haven’t hyperlinked any of those words, you sick freak!). If only she knew she could have done so without shedding off her clothes. All she needed was a White and Gold Black and Blue dress. If you have no idea what we are talking about then you probably haven’t been on the Internet since last night.
Last night, Tumblr user swiked posted a photo on the micro-blogging site with the caption “guys please help me — is this dress white and gold, or blue and black? Me and my friends can’t agree and we are freaking the f*** out.”
This morning we woke up to witness The Power of The Jedi The Dress- millions had freaked out, the Internet was in distress, friendships were being broken, eye-sights were being checked and sanity was being questioned. Confusion and fear was in the air.
BuzzFeed’s post, entitled “What Colors Are This Dress?” published on Thursday 6:14 pm EST, has already been viewed nearly 21 million times and sparked off a heated global debate that saw celebrities, sports people and, well, pretty much everyone weighing in. “At one point tonight (ET) more than 670,000 people were on Buzzfeed.com simultaneously, 500k of those on mobile, and half of those people were reading the dress post,” said the website.
Taylor Swift, talk show host Ellen DeGeneres, actor Will Smith’s son Jaden and reality TV star Kim Kardashian have been tweeting about the debate. Kardashian said she saw white and gold – but her husband Kanye West saw blue and black.
Are the colors of the dress blue and black, or gold and white? Some say the former, some say the latter, and some see a combination. All day today we have witnessed heated arguments, memes and half-baked pseudo-scientific explanations over the viral ugly dress’s real colors. Here is a collection of some of our favourite tweets and memes about The Dress that became an overnight Internet sensation:
At The Social Clinic, we don’t care about White and Gold or Black and Blue because we only see White and Blue 🙂
